Newsletter Issue #71 - Apr 2011

 

Welcome to the seventy-first "UNOFFICIAL" Cheap Trick newsletter, and I hope you find it (and the Dream Police show review - { DP Feb 2011  } of interest.

The summer is filling up with a variety of tour dates, including visits to Europe and Canada, and the following live dates are currently listed on the official CT website (www.cheaptrick.com) as at 27 April. As always, dates are subject to confirmation and change so please check before travelling, and check the website for further additions.

Please note the following: The band are opening for Jeff Beck at the Hamburg and Dresden shows in June; and the 23 Sept show at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles will be a "Dream Police" album show.

The band performed 12 well-received "Dream Police" album shows at the Potawatomi Casino in Milwaukee during January and February. Setlists (different for each show) and a large number of photo's from the shows can be seen on the official website. In promotion of the shows, the band performed "Dream Police" on the Conan show on TBS on 13 January, and video of the performance can be viewed via the "News" page on cheaptrick.com.

The "Countryside Blvd" CD featuring Robin is now scheduled for release on 22 November 2011, but this could again be subject to change. However, Robin can be heard vocalling "Fly Me To The Moon" on the "Sin-atra" tribute CD which was released on 28 March.

Bun E's latest side-project is Candy Golde, which features Nicholas Tremulis, John Sirratt (Wilco) and Rick Rizzo (Eleventh Dream Day) as well as Bun E himself. They debuted live at SXSW in Austin on 18 March 2011, and formally release their 5-track EP on 10 May though it is already available digitally from Amazon in both the USA and in Europe. The official record release party & performance will be held at the Double Door in Chicago on Friday 29 April at 10pm.

Tom can be found as a guest artist on Foster & Lloyd's new release, titled "It's Already Tomorrow", which is released digitally on 26 April and physically on 17 May.

Illinois' official Cheap Trick Day on 1 April was marked this year with an online contest held through the official website. Fans had to provide answers to 20 CT-related trivia questions, plus 5 challenging tie breaker questions, and prizes were awarded to nearly 50 lucky winners.

Don't forget to check the official website regularly. There are currently lots of photographs from recent shows, as well as links to several reviews and articles. Of course cheaptrick.com is always the first place to find news, up-to-date tour dates, as well as merchandise etc. For those who couldn't get to Milwaukee, the official merchandise store is currently selling Dream Police show t-shirts with tour dates (amongst a wide range of other goods), whilst Zazzle offers a large range of custom merchandise.
