It is reported that the new CD will be released on March 31 in Japan and April 8 in the
USA/Europe. I don't have a title as yet, but as reported previously, the track listing is
believed to include the following:- "Low Life", "Special One",
"Too Much", "My Obsession", "Pop Drone", "If I
Could", "Scent of a Woman", "Best Friend", "Sorry Boy"
and "Words". The Japanese release will have a bonus track of "Special
One" sung in Japanese.
On January21, whilst in San Francisco for the two shows at the Great American Music Hall,
Rick was interviewed by "The Bone" radio station. During an entertaining 30
minute interview, studio versions of the new songs "Scent of a Woman" and
"Too Much"were played, and Rick mentioned that it is planned to tour in Japan in
August.
Rick and Robin performed a special acoustic performance of "The Velvet Sessions at
the Hard Rock" on January 30 at the Hard Rock Hotel in Orlando, Florida. This was an
invitation-only performance and the two played a 21 song set. This included songs such as
"Walk Away", "If I Could", "Fan Club" and "Say
Goodbye" as well as more regular concert favourites. Both also did a "celebrity
chef" spot at the Hotel the following day. On February 1st, Robin and Rick attended a
party at the Sarasota Film Festival in Florida, honouring producer Jack Douglas, and both
briefly joined Aerosmith on stage, helping with backing vocals for a few songs.
Staying on the topic of new songs, Bun E's Jukebox on the official website
(www.cheaptrick.com) has just been updated, with new graphics and new songs. The highlight
is the Japanese version of "Special One", plus live versions of seven songs from
the 1997 "Cheap Trick" CD. Follow the link on the opening page for "Special
One".
My archive website moved in early February to a new home, and can now be found at
www.ctnewseurope.co.uk All past issues of this newsletter, interviews, reviews and photos
are archived there, and it also includes a page of London and Amsterdam information that
may be helpful for anyone coming to those shows from overseas. I've also added some
(mostly fan) photo's from 2001 and 2002, plus some setlists & tickets etc from my
collection. (Thanks to Lisa J in Texas for hosting some pages recently whilst I was unable
to update my website at its old location!)
