As can be seen from the tour dates above, Cheap Trick have now confirmed they will be
playing at the "All Tomorrows Parties" Festival on the weekends of 19-21 and
26-28 April 2002 at Camber Sands in Sussex, England. More information about this festival
(the same line up play on successive weekends) can be found at the www.wayahead.com
website and in some of the UK music press. The Festival runs for 3 days each weekend, and
only a 3 day pass can be bought for each weekend (which includes lodging) - no single day
tickets are sold. The band are reported to be trying to fit other dates in between the two
Festival shows.
Further to the international release dates of the "Silver" DVD that I published
last time, please note that the 135 minute VHS video of the Silver show has also been
released in some countries including USA and UK.
The Rhino website reports that the 1998 "Music for Hangovers" DVD and VHS video
is finally due to be released in the USA, with March 26 the tentative date. I have no
details of whether it will be released outside the USA. Hopefully more news next time.
The show played at North Tonawanda NY on 11 Aug 2001 was filmed for Japanese TV and is to
air on NHK TV in Japan on Jan 15.
The "In Color... And In Black And White" album achieved platinum status late in
2001 and the band members received their awards backstage at the New Years Eve show at
Navy Pier, Chicago.
The band made a 30 minute appearance at the KSAN radio station in San Francisco on Jan 8th
in front of a small audience of radio station competition winners and Trick International
members. The 5 song set, interspersed with a few questions and answers was broadcast both
locally and webcast on the internet, and the setlist was "I Want You To Want
Me", "Tonight Its You", "Don't Be Cruel", "Borderline"
and "California Man". The (large, 10MB) file of the webcast can be downloaded
from http://www.ksan.com/Gallery/Archive/cTrick/images/CheapTrick.rm
The January issue of Classic Rock magazine in the UK (cover picture is of W Axl Rose)
features Cheap Trick no less than 3 times! There is a 1/3 page "Studio Report"
feature, as well as prominent reviews of the re-released "Sex.America.Cheap
Trick" box set and the "Silver" DVD. There was even a competition offering
the chance to win one of 5 copies of the DVD... shame that the 3 possible answers were ALL
incorrect! (a/ Rocknroll, Georgia; b/ Rockfield, Illinois; c/ Rockforfiles, Oregon).
The latest addition to the official merchandise list is a new Japanese logo tour jacket.
