Newsletter Issue #47 - Jan 2005
Welcome to the forty seventh "UNOFFICIAL"
Cheap Trick newsletter, and I hope you find it (and the enclosed end of year shows review nye2004.htm) of interest. There's not really been much CT
news of late, but I'd rather keep sending this regularly than leaving it a further month
or two between issues.
The touring schedule for 2005 is currently pretty light, with the following live dates
currently announced on the official CT website (www.cheaptrick.com) as at 20 January
(dates are subject to confirmation and change, please check before travelling):-
28 Jan - Kansas City MO; 18 Feb - Daytona Beach FL; 31 Mar
- Santa Ynez CA; 16 Jul - Comstock NE; 17 - Cadott WI; 11 Aug
- West Allis WI; 13 - Malone NY
Keep checking the Tour Dates on the official website regularly for further additions.
The band played a show at the House of Blues in Chicago on Nov 20 in aid of the charity
formed by local baseball star Kerry Wood. During the show the band were joined by well
known friend and fan, Billy Corgan on four songs - a version of "Little Child"
(a track from the Beatles album "With the Beatles"), as well as "Heaven
Tonight", "Auf Wiedersehen" and "Goodnight Now". The band
followed Christmas with a short run of shows in Florida and South Carolina before seeing
out the year with a two-set New Years Eve show at Disney World in Orlando.
Cheap Trick songs have been covered by many artists over the years. A notable, recent
cover has been by the highly acclaimed band, Velvet Revolver. Their studio version of the
classic "Surrender" is featured on their CD single titled "Fall to
Pieces" in both Europe and the US, as well as on a bonus CD available with their
album "Contraband" in the US.
I believe a small number of the new, limited edition Cheap Trick watches are still
available from the online store, as well as some other new items (such as a Christmas
ornament and new "Apparel" items). Go to www.cheaptrick.com and then to Fan Club
Store for more info.
As well as the usual archive newsletters and reviews on my website, I have recently added
a new "Collectors Corner" section. This includes a worldwide discography of
CD's, vinyl, tape and other types of memorabilia. However, I must stress that it is NOT
exhaustive and I'd never claim it to be! I know there is more out there that I don't know
about, but hopefully this area may be a helpful resource or starting point for collectors cheaptrickcollectors.htm . I have also
updated my Cheap Trick/Hard Rock Cafe page to include a few more Hard Rock's where you can
find Cheap Trick items on display hardrock.htm.
More information is always welcome!
I hope you've found this issue informative. If you receive this by paper mail, I'd be
grateful you could send a sae (or more) or IRC for the next issue. If you (or any other
Trick fans you know) would prefer to receive this newsletter by e-mail in future, please
write or e-mail me. The next newsletter is planned for March/April, depending on news.
