Newsletter Issue #43 - March 2004

Welcome to the forty third "UNOFFICIAL" Cheap Trick newsletter, and I hope you find it (and the enclosed Florida review florida_04.htm) of interest. The following live dates are currently announced on the official CT website as at 4th March (as always, dates are subject to confirmation and change, please check before travelling):

(The following dates are all with Aerosmith except those marked **) 11 Mar - Lubbock TX; 13 - El Paso TX; 15 - Hidalgo TX; 17 - Laredo TX; 19 - Little Rock AR; 20 - Memphis TN**;21 - Bossier City LA; 23 - Tupelo MS; 25 - Lafayette LA; 27 - Biloxi MS; 29 - Pensacola FL; 1 Apr - Tallahassee FL; 3 - Sunrise FL; 4 - Naples FL**; 5 - Orlando FL; 7 - Columbia SC; 9 - Atlanta GA; 10 - Myrtle Beach SC**; 14 - Philadelphia PA; 15 - Chester WV**; 16 - Dayton OH; 18 - Quebec City QC, Canada; 20 - Montreal QC, Canada; 22 - Hamilton ON, Canada; 23 - Wabash IN**; 24 - Green Bay WI; 4 May - Ames IA; 6 - Madison WI; 8 - Peoria IL; 10 - Evansville IN; 12 - Sioux City IA; 14 - Winnipeg MB, Canada; 16 - Saskatoon SK, Canada; 18 - Edmonton AB, Canada; 20 - Calgary AB, Canada; 22 - Ridgefield WA; 24 - Nampa ID; 2 Jun - Dallas TX; 4 - Houston TX; 6 - Birmingham AL; 8 - Indianapolis IN; 9 - Buffalo NY; 12 - Atlantic City NJ; 14 - Scranton PA; 16 - Virginia Beach VA; 18 - Pittsburgh PA; 20 - Holmdel NJ; 22 - Long Island NY; 23 - Verona NY**; 24 - Boston MA; 26 - Hershey PA; 28 - Cleveland OH

(Trick International have announced that Tom will be off the road during the first part of the tour with Aerosmith, and Jon Brant will be filling in for him during that time.)

The Aerosmith tour finishes in Cleveland, and Cheap Trick's tour then continues... 29 Jun - Milwaukee WI; 2 Jul - Uster, Switzerland; 3 - Coburg, Germany; 8 - Roeselare, Belgium; 9 - Weert, Holland; 11 - Leipzig, Germany; 21 - London, England; 6 Aug - Clearfield PA; 7 - Baltimore MD; 14 - Oshkosh WI.

All of the European dates announced so far (except London) are Festival shows with Deep Purple and other artists. In addition to the dates above (which are listed on Cheap Trick's website), the Deep Purple website www.thehighwaystar.com lists two further *unconfirmed* Festival dates at which DP and CT are listed as playing - 10 July at Lennestadt, Germany; and 17 July at Leganes, Spain. That website also includes links to the websites for most of the Festivals, which also include ticket ordering details (however, most of the Festival websites are in the language of the country in which each Festival is being held). It appears possible that further shows may be added to the July tour (which ends on 21 July in London), my best advice is to check www.cheaptrick.com regularly.

I heard just a few days ago that tickets are now on sale for the London show at the Shepherd's Bush Empire (which Cheap Trick headline). On sale from usual agents and also from the venues website.

A double CD titled "The Essential - Cheap Trick" was released on 2 March in the USA. I spoke to Sony Music in London in late February, and was told that they currently have no release scheduled for it in Europe, but did not rule out the possibility that it might be released here later in the year.

The official website has started to undergo a transformation and is (as always) at www.cheaptrick.com. The Message Boards there re-opened in mid February. The rest of my archive website (including past issues of this newsletter, interviews, reviews and photos) can be found at www.ctnewseurope.co.uk

I hope you've found this issue informative. If you receive this by paper mail, I'd be grateful you could send a sae (or more) or IRC for the next issue. If you (or any other Trick fans you know) would prefer to receive this newsletter by e-mail in future, please write to or e-mail me. The next newsletter is planned for May.
